| Lake Independence is located in Marquette County and has 1,860 acres of surface water with depths up to 30 feet deep. Perch, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleyes, and Cisco are found in the water of Big Bay’s most famous lake. Lake Independence is noted for its state record Perch which weighed in at 3.75 pounds and 21” long. It’s unlikely that we’ll be able to produce a state record Perch for you, but the Perch average 10” to 12”, not bad considering their great to eat. Northern Pike tend to average 26” with some monsters that linger throughout the lake. The Smallmouth Bass average 15” to 16” and provide excitement and tremendous fights while charter fishing with Upper Peninsula Premier Fishing Charters. We will make sure that your trip goes as well as it can while fishing with us in North Western Marquette County. The Walleye population is very healthy in Lake Independence and we recommend fishing with us in the early morning or in the evening to go after this night prowling fish specie. Perkins Park is located on the West shoreline of the lake and provides a great camping adventure while staying there. The Lumber Jack Tavern, home of Anatomy of a Murder is just a few minutes hike through the woods. There you can enjoy some libations and food after your long fishing day. There are also cabin rentals available on Lake Independence, feel free to inquire about the ones that I recommend and I’ll see if I can get a reservation for you and possibly a discount. Charter Fishing Rates $300 for 2 people 1/2 Day or 7 Hours $350 for 3-4 people 1/2 Day or 7 Hours Morning or Evening Trips Available. We also give discounts if you book multiple trips for a season.
